SHANNON BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. NEW PAVILION TO BE ERECTED. The annual meeting of the Shannon Bowling Club was held in the Mechanics’ Institute on Friday last. Mr J. W. Murray presided over a large number of members. The president stated in his report that the membership now stood at ?0, an increase of 13 over last year’s membership. The club now stood in a better position than ever before, both financially and as regards membership. It records with regret the death of Mr P. J. Hennessy, a former president of the clubj and Mr J. J. O’Regan, a popular member. The club had achieved good results in various events, more particularly in annexing the coveted “Triangular Shield” for the first time. The balance-sheet shows a credit balance of £26. The report and balance-sheet, as submitted, were adopted. The chairman congratulated the club on the healthy state of its finances, and complimented the members on the success they had had during the season. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President.—Mr J. W. Murray (reelected). Vice-President.—Mr T. Hensman. Secretary and Treasurer.—Mr Geo. Murphy (re-elected). Committee.—Messrs. Fargher, 'E. Spencer, Gunning, Whibley and Kelly. Green Committee.—Messrs. E. Butt, Gunning and E. Spencer. Selection Committee. —Messrs. Gunning, Fargher, and Roach. Refreshment Committee—Messrs. B. Spencer, Watterston and Roach. Delegate to Centre.—Mr G. N. Stephenson. Delegates to Triangular Conference. Messrs. E. Butt, and Gunning. Seven new members were elected to the club, and there fs a prospect of several more names being' added before the season opens. In consideration of valuable services rendered, Mr T. Hensman, a vice-pre-sident was elected a life member pf the club. As an outcome of the. efforts of club to secure control of the whole of the Shannon Bowling and Lawn Tennis Company, Ltd.’s property, at present let to both the Tennis and Bowling Clubs, the Company offered a seven years’ lease of the grounds on very favourable terms, providing the Bowling Club erects a new pavilion to cost at least £IOO, a'nd towards which the Company would give £3O. After a long discussion, the members of the club thought that such .a good opportunity should not be lost, and it was' unanimously decided to accept the Company’s offer. Arrangements are already in hand for Hie erection of the new /building, aiid it is anticipated that ilrwill be ready for the coming season.
