FOOTBALL.
WANDERERS 15, FOXTON 3
The above was the only senior match that took place on Saturday, and the Union would have been well advised to have postponed all fixtures, seeing the big attraction in Wellington in the Springbok match. The Wanderers won comfortably from Foxton aftema good open game. Tries for the winners were scored by Campion, Broughton, T. McDonald, L. McDonald and T. Winiata. Baker notched Foxton’s only score. Mr J. Sciascia was the referee. T. Campion, of the Wanderers, had the bad luck to injure a shoulder in the match at Foxton on Saturday, and had to retire. The use of offensive language between opposing players is not prevalent in this Union, but at least two instances occurred in the WanderersFoxton match on-Saturday of a particularly insulting nature towards a member of the Wanderers team. It is a pity that the offenders cannot always be detected by the referee, and dealt with accordingly. Tokomaru thirds defeated the Rovers on Saturday. The Fourth Grade match, Foxton v. Levin, resulted in a win for the Foxton boys by 13 to 3, after a very good exhibition.
