THE HOUSING PROBLEM. The weekly meeting’ of the \V.E.&. was h§ld' in the Council Chamber on Tuesday ; evening. The chair was taken by* Mr Bear. The tutor, Mr Marsh-Roberts, dealt with the subject of Housing. The chief interests, he said, of men were bread and butter interests.: Until these immediate and pressing -wants were satisfied, men and women would not pay attention to their- -higher needs, such as art, music. The tutor then gave an account of the various suggestions put forward by economists and experts in social welfare to relieve the inconvenience caused by house shortage. The subjects of cooperative; housekeeping and State ownership of houses were also dealt with. ; An interesting discussion then followed, in which Mr Logan, Mrs Manning, Mrs Withers, Mr McGoin, and Mr Bear itobk part.
