Th Shannon Golf Club’s annual hall was held in the Druids’ Hall on Tuesday evening, and in spite of the in clement weather there was a large and representative attendance, the visitors hailing from as far distant as Levin, Otaki, Palmerston North, Feildton and Feilding. The hall was artistically decorated with paper streamers, together with beautiful native greenery and punga- ferns. The lights were shaded with red, diffusing an effective pink glow over the whole hall. The corners and stage were decorated with, greenery, with lounges and easy chairs for the chaperones and non-dancers. The supper room was festoonecl with streamers of the club’s colours, bright blue and gold, relieved with eycapodium. Here the lady and gentlemen members of the club served a sumptuous supper.
The ball was opened by the Grand March, led by the president, and Mrs Anderson.
Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Butlers’ orchestra, and dancing was indulged in till the early hours of the morning.
About 125 couples took part in the ball. The ladies’ frocks made a magnificent display, and the animation of the whole scene was beyond description. t
The organisation was very efficient, greatly helping towards the success of the function, and the ladies are worthy of mention for their generous assistance, whtth was much appreciated.-
