SHANNON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the Shannon School Committee was held in the Schoolroom on the 15th June' The following members were present: Messrs. Birch all, Downes, Gustofson, Warrington, Anderson, Quarrie and Chrlyle (secretary). Mr Voysey (headmaster) was also present. In the absence of Mr Murray, the Committee appointed Mr Quarrie chairman of the meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence dealing with the extension of the fuel shed was considered and left in abeyance owing to the Board’s action in deferring the matter for consideration at the present time. Tenders for school cleaning were held over pending further consideration, the present caretaker to be asked to carry on in*the meantime. It was resolved to ask the Borough Council for a new culvert for the new gateway leading into the school grounds. The Education Board is to be asked for gravel to be spread around the new school building and on the paths leading thereto. Repairs to one of the fences was another consideration—Left to the secretary to obtain the necessary labour. The Library Fund was discussed at length and left in abeyance. The Mangahao conveyance was again dealt with by the committee, and it was decided that the secretaiy write the Board for an explanation in delaying the mailer. As the Board promised provision would be made for the installation of a copper boiler at the new school, the
secretary was directed to write pointing out that nothing had been done in that direction,. Several small accounts Avere passed for payment. Tills terminated the business of the evening.
