SHANNON BOWLING CLUB.
HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL BALL. GREEN TENURE DISCUSSED. A meeting of members of the Shannon Bowling Green and their wives was held on Thursday evening. The boisterous weather prevented several from attending. The Balt balance-sheet was read and adopted. As a result of the ball, the club made a net profit of £2.7, which was considered exceptionally good. The door receipts amounted to £sl, which is a record taking for any social function held in Shannon. The ladies worked assiduously to make the ball ya success, and judging by the results their efforts were not in vain. A hearty vote of thanks to the ladies and others who lent their aid was carried by acclamation. The question of having a social and dance towards the end of the waiter was discussed, and it is probable that something of the sort will take place later on. A general meeting of members was afterwards held. The president, Mr J. W. Murray, presided over a good attendance. ' The principal object, of the meeting was to discuss the club’s standing as regards its greens. At present the club have only an annual teure ot Their, ground, which is owned by the Shannon Bowling and Lawn Tennis ■ Club, Ltd. It is the club’s desire to secure’a better tenure oi the grounds and with that object in view it was. decided, after the position had been thoroughly discussed, to write to the company’s secretary stating the desire . either to purchase the property , outright from them, or as an alterne tive to get a lease for a satisiactoiy term of years. The matter will be further discussed after hearing from the company.
