HOCKEY.

WERAROA (2) V. SHANNON (0). Th above teams met in Levin on Wednesday. The ground was a little on the heavy side, but nevertheless a fast, and interesting game resulted. Shannon, however, did not show the form of the previous week, whilst Weraroa was reinforced by W. Sevan, D. Wilson and R. George, of Manakau, and made a good show, finally winning by 2 goals to nil, the scorers being D. Wilson and J. Hopa. The Manakau players were a source of strength to Weraroa, and played well, whilst Romeo stopped some hot shots at goal. The passing of both teams was not what it should be, and there might be an improvement if less talk were indulged in by the players. King, Morgan and Moynihan were the most, prominent of the visitors. Messrs. Patrick and Wells were the referees.
