THE OTAKI PICTURES
.To-night, William Fox presents William Farnum in the drama of a brother’s sacrifice for his little sister, “Heart Strings. r ’ Briefly, the story tells of the wondrous love of a man for his young sister, a girl who has made an unfortunate alliance with a villainous creature who would drag her in the dust and use her as a shield for his own crimes. As Pierre, the girl’s brother, William Farnum portrays the character of a strong man who sacrifices ambition and gives his all in an effort to save his little sister from the suffering which she faces. The scenes were made in a little village near Quebec, and in New York city. The play is one of intense action, well worthy of the dramatic ability of the noted star. These will be shown in Shannon on Saturday. They have already been screened at Levin and Otaki, to packed and enthusiastic houses. The pictures are in three sections—scenic, historic and comic—and are quite up to the best imported article. There is some fine natural comedy in some of the Maori scenes, while the scenes include all the places of interest on this coast, including glimpses of Shannon and Mangahao.
