METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.
PRIZE-GIVING LAST NIGHT. The Methodist Sunday School social last night was a complete success. In spite of the rough weather there was a well-filled church. The musical items by the children were all very good, and friends from Foxton gave quite a musical treat, which was much appreciated by everyone. Mrs Bovis also contributed to the programme. Mr T. F. Gibson, the superintendent, and Mrs Gibson, from Levin, were present. Mrs Gibson gave the children a very bright and interesting address, and, judging from the attention she got, the children must have enjoyed it, as indeed so did the adults. Mr Gibson took advantage of the occasion to extend a hearty welcome to the new minister, Rev. Mr Minifle, and Mrs Minifle, and to assure them of thef co-operation of the Shannon Methodists, sentiments that were appropriately acknowledged” by the minister. Mr Gibson supplied the financial statement for the year, and although there was not very much in hand, there was a small credit balance to carry over to next year. ~ .The part most appreciated by the children was the prize-giving, every child in the school getting a small book of some kind.
