At Flemington this morning Galliardia moved over six furlongs in very fine style, finishing up in Imin 18tec. Templestone, who is regarded as the best outsider for the Newmarket Handicap, galloped over the same distance easily in Imin 19sec. Portsea was sent round a mile and a half the. gallop registering 2min. 45sec. Moscow accomplished a similar journey, but took half a second longer. Oamoola wound up a mile and threequarter gallop in 3min 15sec, and Warpaint five furlongs in Imin saec. The Admiral is looked upon as an uncertain starter for the Australian Cup till after Saturday’s racing.
Last night 7000 to 280 was taken about Fortunatus for the Newmarket Handicap, 4000 to 260 Lord Hopetoun, 5000 to 150 Giliardia. Ilium and Miss Albans are receiving good support at 100 to 3. Buccleuch has receded to 100 to 7. Oamoola is still favourite for the Australian Cup. 4to 1 being the best offer against him.
