Owing to the second'flood and the extent of the losses the Queensland flood committee are appealing to the public for help. The Marquis of Ripnu has subscribed £2O. Another instalment of £IOOO was cabled to Queensland to-day.

A deplorable state of affairs is reported from Woogooroo lunatic asylum, as the outcome of the floods. The inmates had to be crowded into the upper parts of the building, and patients in all degrees of insanity were packed together Ilk® sardines.
