For the month o£ February, ended yesterday, 31 births, 8 marriages, and 13 deaths were registered at the Timaru office. The opening of the Star Football Club takes place on their grounds, North street, on Thursday, when it is expected there will be a large attendance of members. Sides will be chosen by the captain and vice-captain. The following is a list of unclaimed letters from places beyond the colony, received at tbe Post Office. Timarn, during the month of December, and unclaimed on 28th February, 1893 ; Thomas Ansiey, Jamee Batfcersby, Mro W. Bryan, David Bullock, James LangskiD, Wm, Matthewa, Wm. Wright, “Cumbrian,” Mrs M. At the Resident Magistrates Court, Tamuka, yesterday, Captain Wray, R.M., dealt with the following oases ;—A. Frew v. Scarlett, Mr Salmond appeared for the plaintiff. The case was adjourned for four weeks by consent. Judgment for plaintiffs by default with costs woo given in the cases W. McLeod v. W. Lynch, claim £1 Ob lOd j Whitehead and San v. H. Play will begin at 2 p m. sharp. At a meeting of the Bangitata Station School Committee held on Monday last it was resolved to vote for the Bev. J. Whit®, Messrs W. Storey, and D. L. Inwood as members of the Education Board. The report of the recent examination was read, and it certainly reflects groat credit on Mr B. W. ETawkes, tho teacher, the percentages being—Passes, 54; failures, 0; class subjects, 69; additional murks, 67- It was decided to make further enquiries from the Board concerning a new grate for tho school Mr Sidney VI olf has received the examination papers as conducted by tho Cant.-rbury Society of Musicians Those examinations will be held in the month of December annually, and are for those wishing to become teachers of music. All who pass these examinations will be entitled to membership of the Society of Musicians, and thus testify to their qualification for the practice of music as a profession.
