Waimate County Council.
Tbe ordinary meeting of the Woimate County Council was held on Wednesday last. There were present—Messrs H. E. Parker, in the chair, Manchester, Elwortby, Hsrdie, Rhodes, Campbell, and Cameron. Mr F. Wall wrote, complaining of the right of way through his property at Waihao Forks not being fenced. —The overseer and Mr Cameron were empowered, to deal with the matter. The National Mortgage and Agency Company, Oamaru, wrote, claiming £2514 4d for extra cost in conveying wool across the Waitaki, through tbe punt not being in working order. —A committee were appointed to inquire into the complaint, and report to next meeting. Favourable reports were received from the rangers of both water-races. Messrs Meason and Marobant offered their services to tbe Council, as water race in* specters, for a term of two years, at £26 a year.—The offer was accepted. An application from the contractor lor the Lower Waihao water race contract, for an allowance for extra work, was deferred until next meeting. Messrs Manchester and Campbell were requested to inquire into the claim of Mr James Robertson, for damages done to bis wheat through ;an overflow from the water race, and to report to next meeting. Mr Ryan complained of the water not coming down through hit paddocks.—The engineer stated that it was only a matter of time when the water would be down. ■ A general rate of $d in tbe £ was authorised to bo struck k The matter of getting fresh county fmape was left over for another month. Messrs Campbell, M 0. Studholme, Parker, and Lyall, were elected trustees of tbe Woimate Hospital. Mr Manchester requested the co-operation of members of the Council in collecting sob* soriptions for the Queensland sufferers. The following accounts were poised for payment General account—£B64 8t 9d; Lower Fareom account—£4 So 4d g Lower Waihao account—£B9 18s 6d. Tbe Council then rose.
