Fatal Boat Accident.

(By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, Fra. 86. A Bad boating accident happened in the harbour some time last night or yesterday afternoon. H. Osborne, portmanteaux manufacturer, Lambtoa Quay, bis foreman, Burgess, and W. Bnrteau, storeman in Sargood

and Bono, hired a pleasure boat to proceed to Seamen Island, where Osborne, who was a drg fancier, had several canines in quarantine. They experienced a light southerly breeze in the ran across, bat before the party left on their return at 6 o’clock the wind freshened and increased as the day wore on. The boat not returning enquiries were instituted, and as the night was boisterous it was feared that a mishap had occurred. This morning tbe constable at Petone, found the boat and the body of Burgess on (ha beach. The body was entangled amongst the ropes, which left no doubt that the three men had perished. The last seen of the boat from fcoaroes’ Island was when it was standing toward# Lowry Bay under tail, apparently endeavouring to get back under canvas. It is thought that the boat was struck by a»quail, and being as open boat, filled. Osborne was a married man with no family ; Burgess, who oolv arrived from Melbourne two months age, leaves a wife and four young children j Bur- . teau was also a married man with four children under five years of ago.
