Public Notices. QUEENSLAND RELIEF FUND. PUBLIC MEETING of Those Interested, and Desirous of Rendering Aid to the SUFFERERS from the FLOODa IN QUEENSLAND will be held at the TOWN HALL, Timaru, ot 8 o’clock p.m, on THURSDAY, the 16th INST. A. BHBREATT, Mayor of Timaru. ANSWER TO CHALLENGE. The ohbistadblphian sect (founded by Dr Thomas less than 50 years ago) cling to the name of Christian, but reject the very heart of what Christians of all Churches have for 1800 years believed. They would rob us of our profound belief in the Deity of our Lord. This sect is really Unitarian and agree with Jews, Turks, Tbeosopbists and Infidels in denying that the Lord Jesus Christie God. Moreover (2) they deny that the Holy Spirit and Satan are superhuman personages. (3) They assert that all infants and little children cease to exist for ever when they die. (4) They declare that there is no salvation fur anyone except they heartily receive the interpretation of Scripture as set forth by Dr Thomas, and are also baptised by one of their own sect. Thus Luther, Wesley, Canon Liddon, Spurgeon, and all Bishops, Ministers, Missionaries and Members of the various Churches will without exo'ption be most certainly damned to everlasting destruction. (I challenge Mr King to deny in print the above if be can ) These tenets are to some of us, so Antichristian, so unspeakably horrible (on one point blasphemous), and so devoid of even a common sensed reading of the Bible —that I decline the public discussion which Mr King proposes. There is no common ground upon which Ohristadelphiun Unibarianiem and Christian Trinitarianism can meet Let hipi lecture away and persuade all who will to believe that the?r godly, parents and ancestors will assuredly be shut out from the kingdom of heaven and perish everlastingly just because they were so unfortunate as never to hear a Ohristadelpian Lecturer, and were not persuaded to adopt the interpretations of the late Dr Thomas. 0. C. BROWN, Baptist Church. REPLY TO ME BROWN. WHATEVER Name we cling to, Mr Brown, or whatever Doctrine we hold to be the Teachings of the Scriptures, we do not get behind the *' Coward’s Box ” and Fear to move out of it, but are always Ready and Willing to Defend our Faith to the best of our ability, and do not shirk Investigation or play upon people’s feelings to keep them instead of convincing them from the Bible, and when we find a Person for several years Challenging everybody around him to a discussion on certain Scriptural questions refusing to submit (after making Statements from bis pulpit) to a like process, it says very little for his Honesty of Purpose. One thing is evident from his position that, as Unscriptural and as easy of Refutation as he implies, he dare not undertake the task. Notwithstanding he is losing some of his congregation as the result of being unable to Satisfy them that he occupies a Scriptural position on these points. Regarding '-theologians and children, Christadelphians contend if they have complied with the conditions laid down (not by Dr Thomas) but by Christ and his Apostles they will be saved, if not NO, and Mr B. is not prepared to prove the contrary. Mr B. declining discussion we Bhall shortly take the opportunity of replying from the public platform, when, each one can satisfy themselves as to tbo Scripturalness or not of Christadelphianism. 8o far as Dr Thomas is concerned Christa* delphians follow him wherever ho is in accordance with the Scriptures, and will do so with Mr B. and no farther; they are nob tied down by a Conference or compelled to ask another Minister, of their own denomination, if he wi : l allow them to speak upon a certain bible truth before they can do so, and where Dr Thomas found out a truth be preached, regardless of any man, not for hire but for the love of it, both in America, England, and Scotland, and no man can say be knew the truth concerning tho nature of man for fifteen years and buried it in hia bosom, or any other truth. Hence wa have faith in the man and hia teachings, and challenge Mr Brown to disprove that his conclusions concerning sub jeocs already named were not in harmony with the Law and Testimony of G^d. JOS KING, Pro. Ohristadelphiacs.
