o> [By Telegraph,) DUNEDIN. Feb. 10. In tho Supreme Court to day Mr Justice Williams heard argument, hi banco in the case Bimson“v. Hunter, an appeal from the Resident Magistrate at Gore, Tbs facts were that in the last mayoral election the p'aintiff, Simson, was declared elected, but after a scrutiny of the voting papers by Mr Olcndon, the Residrnt Magistrate, such scrutiny having been demanded by the defendant, the names of three voters were struck off Simson’s total, bis election was declared void, and Alfred Dolamore, tho next candidate declared elected Plaintiff moved for a writ of quo warranto on the grounds that tho Magistrate bad exceeded his jurisdiction. Mr Justice Williams dismissed tho appeal, holding that all the matters decided by tho Resident Magistrate were within his jurisdiction.
