Bowling Tournament.

(By Telegraph.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 9. The interprovinoial bowling match Otago v. Canterbury was played this afternoon on the Christchurch Club’s green, when a large att endanoe of bowlers and ladies witnessed the game. Eight rinks were played,, the scores being Otago 152, Canterbury 151. Before playing the last bowl in No. 4 rink, which was the last to finish, Mr 3. M. Taylor, skip for Oanlerbury,ea<juired of Mr Ospstiok,

the secretary, how the came stood. Mr ■ Ospstick replied that Otago were four ahead, when really such was not the case. Mr Taylor’s rink held the shot, but the skip looking upon it as a lost match and hoping to better this score played a drive, and by shifting the jack gave Otago three and the game. A general feeling of disgust existed, because had Mr Taylor received the correct information he could have thrown away his last shot and Canterbury would have won. The Canterbury representatives claimed that under the circumstances the last head of No. 4 rink should be played again, but so far nothing definite has been decided. The Otago representatives will play off for the trophies to-morrow morning, when the single banded championship will also bo decided. As a result of the bowling fiasco ia the interprovinoial match, Tkylor has lodged a protest against Otago taking the prize, on the ground of his having received misleading information from the officer of the association. The protest will be considered at a general meeting at 9 o’clock to-morrow morning. . Two singles were decided this evening : A. Fraser 15, beat J. F. Stokes 14; W. Oowie 19, beat J. Hunter 15.
