Foundering of the Barque Selim Wellington, Dec. 4.
Intelligence has been received by Messrs A. Moore and C Christchurch, that the barque Selim, chartered and loaded by them in Lyttelton with 978 bags of wheat, for Falmouth for orders, has foundered on the voyage, between Falmouth and Dunkirk. Site arrived at Pahnou h on the 23rd, and was ordered to Dunkirk. The cargo is insured in the South British. Later. The insurances on the Selim, are: New Zealand, £2500, Standard, £2OOO ; South British, £4OOO ; Swiss Lloyds, £2OOO. Nominated ImmigrationThe number of nominations for immiurants sent by yesterday’s mail was 454 souls. The numbers trom the different districts were :—Auckland, 161 ; Taranaki, 9 ; Hawkes Bay, 20 ; Wellington, 52 ; Nelson, 8 ; Westland, 7 ; Marlborough, 4 ; Canterbury, 87 ; Otago, 88 ; Southland, 25. Of these, 180 are single women, 76 single men, and the remainder were families. The amount received for fees was £1369,
