TIMAEU—THIS DAY. (Before J. Beswick, Esq., R.M., and T W. Hal! Esq.) DRUNKENNESS. John 0. Anderson, Patrick Keloher, Thomas Williams, and John Ellison were charged with drunkenness. Anderson and Williams were fined 5s each, and E lison 10s. Keloher was discharged. creating a disturbance. John Tozer was charged with creating a disturbance in a licensed house at Alhury, and refusing to leave. He was fined 40s ; in default seven days’ imprisonment. illegal rescue of cattle. ‘ Joseph Mathews was charged with ■rescuing 125 head of cattle, the property of Mr A. Clelland. Mr Hamersley appeared for plaintiff, and Mr 0. Perry (instructed by Mr White) for the defendant. The Bench, after hearing evidence, said they regarded the action of the prosecutor in impounding the cattle, as illegal ; and they could not therefore find that defendant had committed a wrongful act in rescuing them. The case would therefore be dismissed.
