PEDESTRIAN TOUR OF YOUNG LADIES.
Much interest was excited at Lexington lately by the arrival inthat city, on foot, of pix yonng American or prepossessing appearance, who are making a pedestrian tour across the North Carolina The distance they propose to travel is about 700 miles, and much of their track lies through wild and dreary forests. They did not. however, fear any molestations on their journey, and were in the highest possible spirits. They all dressed in short skirts, heavy, serviceable boots, and broad-brimmed hats. Each of the young ladies had a hammock in her knapsack, since.it was their intention to'camp out in places where they might find a difficulty in obtaining lodgings. Three of the fair, pedestrians are, Virginians/ arid the_other three Marylanders. Some of them are school girls. The oldest is not over twenty and the youngest is sixteen. >
