A WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH
Sydney, This Day.
A fire occurred at Lawlar’s Bedding Factory, in George street, last night, resulting in the complete destruction of the premises, and the death of a woman who was sleeping there. PROBABLE RISE IN COALS.
The coal lumpers employed on the Sydney wharves, are demanding 3d per hour advance of wages, and a strike is feared to be imminent.
[Received Oct. 3, 1882, 1 a.m.] SportingMelbourne, Oct. 2. The following horses have been scratched for the Melbourne Gup Race: —Armadale, Crazy Jane, Fandango and Lord Olifden.
