INQUEST.
The inquest on the body of the man found drowned in the Saltwater Creek, was held at the Creek Hotel at five o’clock last evening, before the Coroner and a jury of whom Mr Jacob Hill was Foreman. The evidence was taken of,; A. - Sejourne, who found ! the clothes on the bank; ofMr and Mrs Gardner, of the Hotel, who deposed to his having of late been a regular visitor to the house, quiet and temperate; of G. Massey, carrier, who recognised deceased as Jeffery Robinson, who bad been married tb his (witness’) step-daughter; of Jessie Laidlaw, servant at the hotel, who had observed deceased to be in a low state of mind. This witness had, by a singular coincidence, remarked on the morning when deceased was last seen, that he looked as if he were going to drown himself. All the witnesses testified to deceased being free from the influence of liquor. The jury returned a verdict of “ Found drowned.”
