ASSAULT. John 1 Hunt was charged with assaulting G. Lewis, a lad of 12. Defendant was a fishmonger, and Lewis had jeered at him on several occasions. Defendant was fined 20a (including costs). WILFUL DAMAGE. J.“ Giles, T. Tomlin, P. Hubbard, H. Beale, J. Dean (lads under 14 years of age), were charged with damaging Mr Hayes picket fence. Tne two first pleaded guilty the, others denied, it, and one or those who pleaded,' guilty himself declared the three to be guiltless in the matter. They ; were discharged, and the parents of the two were ordered to flog them in the presence of a'oonstable. ’ ' CHIMNEY ON FIEB. Mraßyan was fined 5s for allowing her chimney to be on fire. ! BICYCLING. • P. Henderson was charged with riding a.bycicle on the footpath, but it appeared he had been wrongly, charged, and the case was withdrawn. : J. Nind, charged with the same offence, was dismissed with a caution. DRIVING WITHOUT EEINB. J. Connor and G. Howard were charged with this offence. They were both seated on the same dray. Connor was fined 20s, and Howard discharged. COWS IN THE STREET. For allowing cows to wander in the street, M. Theyne, G. B. Preeman, and B. P. Smith were fined 5s each, (per head.) , CIVIL OASES. : Union Bank of Australia v. Williams, claim £l4 17b 2di. ' Interpleader case; Mr Clement for plaintiff. , The case was adjourned to October 11th.
