London, Sept. 26.
A despatch has been received from Sir Garnet Wolseley, stating that the Ehedive has expressed his warmest gratitude to the English nation for the assistance rendered daring the recent crisis. The despatch further states that a grand review of the British troops will be held at Cairo,'on Saturday next.
Alexandria, Sept, 25,
H.M.S. Minotaur, the flagship of the Channel Squadron, sails for Aboukir to-morrow to re-embark the marines, and will then proceed to Malta. The remainder of the Squadron will follow at an early date. [Received Sept 27, 1882, 10.20 a.m.] Sept. 26, The Khedive held a crowded reception to-day at the Palace at Cairo. His Highness took occasion during the reception to rebuke the Ulemas for meddling in political matters during the recent crisis. [Received Sept 28,1882,1.6 a.m.] Baker Pasha, who has undertaken the reorganisation of the Egyptian army, will give appointments to all British officers now serving in the Turkish Gendarmerie. It is probable that the vacancies in the Imperial Ottoman service will be filled by German officers. Sir Garnet Wolseley is indisposed. His illness is not, however, reported to be of a serious nature. Constantinople, Sept. 26. The Porte has presented a Note to the British Ambassador with reference to the present position of affairs in Egypt, asking what steps the British Government propose to take for the withdrawal of troops whose services are no longer needed in that country.

London, Sept. 25. The Mataura’s cargo of frozen meat from Hew Zealand has arrived in excellent condition.
The banquet given by colonists to the Australian Cricketers, was largely attended and a great success. Sir Henry Barkly occupied the chair. Several important arrests have been made-in connection with the Lough Mask murders.
The gfand military spectacle at Cairo was received by the natives in a cold but respectful manner. A general amnesty is expected to be proclaimed by the Khedive, from which only a few of the principal leaders will be excepted. ■ - Sept. 26. ’
The “Daily News" strongly urges the Government to a long occupation of Egypt. ■ The reported deposition and imprisonment of the Cheriff of Mecca lacks confirmation.

The French at Madagascar are com* pelting the return of Zanzibar refugees. The survey of a projected canal from Kiel to the Elbe is being proceeded with.
