JEM MAOE AND COMPANY AT THE ROYAL. ■ On Wednesday and Thursday even-, :ing, the 13th and 14tb, Jem Mace and his troupe of athletes will appear on the boards of the Theatre Boyal in a grand athletic tournament. The performance, jpven in the same place two or three months ago will be fresh in the minds oftheTimaru people,'and as great interest is taken here in athletics, we feel sure there will bo a crowded bouse.' A great feature of the entertainment will be the performances of Slade, -“our Timaru representative ”in the P.R. Mr .Mace has discovered that Slade possesses all the elements of success in the noble art; and is training him to become champion of the world. They are hiow on their way to America, where Slade is to be pitted against some of the Yankee champions, Slade’s friends here will watch his career with much interest.
