She went oat to tow a vessel in, but being unable to reach her through the force of the gale, was coming back, and got across th« bar, when the wind and current combined, slewed her right round and landed her broadside on the rocks. Dunedin, September 1. The Queenstown correspondent of the “ Star ” reports an important discovery in Bslien’s Claim at the Skippers. The reef is three feet thick, and is yielding an ounce to the ton. The gold was found at a depth of 9000 feet.

New Jockey Club. Steps were taken at a meeting last night to form a Jockey Club.
