Wilkin and Co., report for the week ending August 4, as follows : Horses.—Although the demand has improved, prices are not tempting enough for owners to bringniany forward, but prices obtained hare been quite up to the mark, they quote good draughts at from £26 to £3O; medium, £ls to £25 ; hacks, £8 up to £lB. There is enquiry for young draughts and light harness horses, and they could place a few good sorts of these. Cattle—The price of prime beef remains steady at, about 25s per 1001 b, and they have effected sales of a few really prime lots at these figures. In milch cows little or nothing is doing, holders declining to sell at the very low price offering. There is 6 little beltet demand for stores,, especially two and three-year-old steers in forward condition. At Winchester Fair yesterday, there was what might be considered an average entry'for this time of year, and every line, with the exception of old cows, found buyers at higher figures than have been ruling of late. Good heal l hy young cattle are improving, and can be sold at’better values; ' ‘ Sheep—Fat sheapi may be quoted at 2Jd Ser lb for really prime quality, with a fair emand. Store sheep meet steady sale, especially cross-bred wethers in forward condition, AtWashdyke Yards, on Monday 31st, they yarded 962 cross-bred and merino, and sold at the following prices: —2914-tooth cross-bred ewes and wethers, at 11s 3d ; 300 cross-bred do, at 9s 6d ; 237 fat merino wethers, at 9a lld, Skins, Hides; Wool, and Fat—On Wednesday at their wool salerooms .they held their nsual fortnightly sale. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited throughout, resulting in a clearance of everything-at a price of fully 9d per skin advance on the last sales. They catalogued over 1200 skins, about 20 hides, and,a few bags of wool and fai. Butchers’ best cross-bred made 6s, 5s 2d, 6s 4d, 5s 6d 5s Bd, up to 6s 9d. A line of butchers grand half-bred skins brought 5s 9d all round,; second quality, • 4s, 4s 4d, 4s 6d, to 4s 8d ; best merino, Bs lOd, 4s,to 4s2d ; second, quality 2s, 2s 6d, 3s, to 3s 6d ; dry and inferior, Is to ls 6d; pelts, 6d to 10d each ; hides 3Jd to 3Jd per lb; wool, s|d to 6|d per lb ; tat in good condition, 24d per lb.
