The barquantine Jasper sails to-night with a cargo of wheat lor the Cape of Good Hope, shipped by the New Zealand Grain and Agency 00. She has been here about five, days, and in that,time she has discharged a cargo of cement, and loaded another of grain. This is excellent despatch. Beer-brewing has become an import:, ant branch of industry in Japan. The two largest establishments are the Shimidzuya Shokwai and Hokkosha breweries. The beer brewed there is excellent in taste, far more wholesome than imported beer. Its sale is daily increasing, and it is hoped that it will successfully compete with the imported article.
