PARLIAMENTARY.

Wellington, Augusts. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. BILLS DBALT WITH. The Trustees Executors and Agency Company - Bill, the Customs Laws Cod. solidatiou Bill, and the Industrial Schools Bill, were received from the Lower House and read a first time. The Union Bank Bill was read a first time. The Width of Streets and Road Begu. lation Bill was thrown out oh a division. The Gas Companies and Consumers Liability Bill, and the District Railways Act Amendment Bill, were read a second time. The Small Birds Nuisance Bill was was passed through JUVENILE SMOKING. Mr Chamberlain moved that, in the opinion of the Council, the Government should bring in a Bill to stop juvenile smoking. The motion was negatived by the previous question being carried. babbit’best. Mr Bobinson gave notice of a Com. mittee to consider the rabbit pest. The Council rose at 4.45 p.m.
