It now transpires that Sir Archibald Allison has not been appointed to the command of the land force in Alexrndria as previously announced,but will assume command of the force which is being organied for the protection of the .Suez Canal. London, July 17. • ■ The; issue ,of Admiral Seymour’s manifesto announcing his intention to restore order and the stops which are being taken for the equipment of troops in India are believed to denote that Egypt is to be occupied by a British force. In the House of Commons to-day the Right Hon. John Bright explained that he; disagreed with his former colleagues oh the Government Benches solely with regard to the policy they had decided upon pursuing in connection with the Egyptian question.
