[Reuter’s Agbnot.] Egyptian Affairs. Alexandria, July 10. Admiral Seymour has announced., that he will commence the bombardment of the city at four o’clock on Tuesday morning, unless the forts are surrendered before that time. The French fleet will not take part in the bombardment Mr Cookson, the British : Consul has suspended Consular relations with the Egyptian Government, and has informed Dervish Pasha that he will be held responsible for the safety of the Khedive. Statement by Mr Gladstone* j London, July 10. In the House of Commons to-day, the Premier took occasion to refer to the hint he threw blit at last meeting of the House, that he might, deem it necessary to resign in consequence of the rejection of the Government’s proposed amendment to the Irish Repression Bill. Mr Gladstone ‘stated that, after consideration, he had decided to'accept the vote of the House, and had abandoned any intention of resigning.

A petition bearing 200 signatures has been forwarded to the Member tor Awarua urging the necessity for fencing, tbe railway between the Bluff, and Invercargill, on which large numbers of cattle have been killed, and narrow escapes from serious accidents have sometimes occurred.
