INQUEST.
As inquest was held this afternoon (before J. Beswick Esq., Coroner) into the cause of the stack fire at Coonoor, the farm of Mr Gosling. The following gentlemen were sworn as jurors : Messrs Hibbard (Foreman), G. Pearson C. Hill, E. Mitchell, B. Brunton, W. Hobbs, M. Mullins, W. McKeown, D. Shea, J. King, J. Bowles, J. O’Eourke, T. Flaherty, R-Kidwell. Mr Jameson appeared to watch the case on behalf of the Insurance (Liverpool, London and Globe) Company. Mr Hamersley appeared for D. Heffernan, the owner of the stacks. The evidence of D. Heffernan (who deposed to the ownership of the burnt stacks, to having insured them for £4OO with the Liverpool and London Office, to his own absence at Albury on the night of the fire). Walter Eiby, clerk to the Union Insurance Company, who deposed to declining to renew Mr Heffernan’s policy after its expiry on 9th May, and of Mr Eutherfurd who testified to the insurance of the stacks in his (the Liverpool and London) office, were examined. The latter was giving his evidence when our reporter left, and there were a large number of other witnesses to be examined.
