TROTTING MATCH. [By Telkgbaph.j Wanganui, July 8. ' The trotting match for £SO a side between Mr W, Kirkwood’s Our Pony and Mr Chavanue’s Little Nell, was won rather easily by Our Pony. Both horses got away nicely. Little Nell made good use of her 25 seconds start, and at the end of the first mile Onr Pony was still 23 seconds in tixe rear and offers of 3 to 1 against her were plentiful. In the next mile, Little Nell over-reached and cut herself badly. The result was that she broke once or twice and then trotted very indifferently. At two and a quarter miles, Our Pony passed Nell and won comfortably in nine ruinates and two seconds. Little Nell was bleeding profusely at the finish of the race, and had she kept np the pace she was going the first mile she must have won. ■
