THE PRINCES BEATRICE.

A contemporary has the following: —Rumor regards the Earl of Fife as a possible husband for the Princess Beatrice, but on tho other hand (says a London correspondent), there are those among the well informed, who state that the Prince of Wales is not very anxious that his sister should marry the Earl of Fife. He is wealthy, good-looking, and polished, and very popular everywhere. Yet I venture to predict that ho will not become the Queen’s son-in.law. The melancholy spectacle presented by the Marquis of Lome and the Princess Louise is enough to deter any young Eurl from imitating tho example of the Governor General of Canada. Never was a more luckless match than that, and there is no person in tho world better able to judge 'of it than Lord Fife himself. To marry a Princess would be to put an end to all his hopes and aspirations in that direction. And he :is known to bo somewhat ambitious.
