Telegrams have been received here reporting that the barque Virago, of 695 tons, which left Sydney on May 7 with a cargo of eoal for Shanghai, has been wrecked near that port. PoliticalThe New South Wales Parliament has been further prorogued to August 22. Melbourne, J une 20. The Legislative Assembly met again to-day, after the adjournment. During the proceedings of the day Mr Francis rose to move his amendment, regarding the remissions of taxation proposed by the Government. The Speaker, however, ruled that the motion was out of order, and it was thereupon withdrawn. Mr Francis has expressed his intention of bringing his motion again before the House in Committee of Ways and Means. Negotiations between the Government and the Opposition with a view to a compromise in the present crisis, continue. There are hopeful signs of an amicable settlement being arrived at, but at the same time much uncertainty prevails as to the result. Sir John O Shannassy has announced his intention of opposing Mr Francis’ motion. Shipping. Sailed, this afternoon—The Union Company’s s.s,, Te Anau, for the Bluff. Albany, Jane 20. The P. and 0. steamer Sutlej, with the inward mails via Suez and Brindisi, dated London May 19, arrived at King George’s Sound to-day. Wheat. 9 • Adelaide, June 20. It is expected that some of the largest floor mills in this colony will bo shortly completely stopped for want of wheat. Farmers, it is stated, hold large stocks, but • are unwilling to sell at present prices, and it is understood that wheat is being shipped from California to Adelaide.
