THEATRE ROYAL.

- Lust night’s entertainment was an unqualified success. Responding to the Relief Fund, the people mustered in strong force and quite filled every part of the' house, The programme was a long and varied one. It is needless to particularise the performers, but wo must not omit to note the magnificent sieging of Airs Font, who charmed the an lienee as they had not boon charmed before for many ;i long day. This lady'n voice is of superb quality, her enunciation fully distinct, and her expression faultless. Other amateurs contributed some very irderesling and amusing movccaw', and the lirst part fully satisfied everyone. The second part consisted of the trial scene, Bardoll v. Pickwick in

.which several members of the j Garrick Club took part, all doing and ! looking their best to make the piece a success. Such it undoubtedly was, and the get up of the characters was very appropriate. The piece went smoothly throughout, but tho audience were somewhat nonplussed at the apparently abrupt descent of the curtain. Wo may explain, however, that the curtain did descend in tho right place, the dramatist being to blame for an abrupt and dn pleasing - termination of the piece. We should be glad, to see these gentlemen in other pieces.
