[Slocks appear ’Jo have been established in England, at the request of the' House of Commons, in 1,376 ; and they appear, to have fallen into disuse about the cnil of the; 18th century. Tlio exact date of the last infliction of punishment by the stocks, wo are unable to furnish. —Ed. S. 0. Times.]
