Consols remain at 100|, and New Zealand securities} at the following quotations:—s per cent 10-40 loaDj 106|; 5 per cent 1889 loan, 105 ; 4£ per cent 1879-1904 loan, 103 a. The market rate of discount has declined and is now at 2$- per cent; bank rate, 3 per cent. Adelaide wheat ex store is unchanged at 51s and Adelaide flour ex store, at 455. New Zealand wheat, ex warehouse, also remains at 51s. Adelaide wheat is quoted to-day at 50s 3d for off coast cargoes. Australian tallow, best beef, 43s 6d ; best mutton, 445. Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day 1000 bales were offered. The market rates are weaker for most descriptions, but lino to best qualities are firm. The Meat ex “ Dunedin-” A portion of the cargo of frozen meat ex ship Dunedin was sold at auction to-day, and realised an average of G*d per lb for mutton, and 7-|d for lamb... Belgium stating that Sir Henry Parkes was officially received on his arrival, and that banquets*nnd oth«> entertainments are being organised in his honor. Egyptian Affairs. In the House of Commons to-day, Sir Charles Dilke, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, denied, in reply to a question, that the Porte had rejected the proposal to hold a conference of the Powers with regard to the Egyptian question, or that Lord Dafferin had suggested that the meeting of the Conference should be postponed onjaccount of the action which the Sultan has taken. Constantinople, June 5. It has transpired that the Sultan has sent a telegram to the Khedive desiring him to order Arabi Pasha to put a stop to the construction of fortifications in the neighborhood of Alexandria, The Vice-Chancellor. Vice-Chancellor the Hon. Sir Charles Hall is suffering from paralysis, and has resigned his seat on the Bench. Death of Garibaldi. Naples, June 6. The News of the death of Garibaldi has been received with great regret, and there is universal mourning to-day throughout Italy. It is announced that his will directs that his body shall be cremated.
