[REuruß’s Agknoy.j Bordeaux Wine Exhibition. London, June 1. The opening of tho International Wine Exhibition at Bordeaux has been postponed for a fortnight. Commercial. Consols are 100 J-, ex div. New Zealand securities are unchanged. The total reserve in the Bank of England, in notes and bullion, is £10,500,000, being £BOO,OOO less than the reserve of last week. The Bank rate of discount remains at 3 per cent, and the market rate at 2£. Markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are without quotable change. Favorable accounts of this season’s crops are to hand from American wheatgrowing districts. Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day prices were again firmly maintained. Frozen MeatThe Orient s.s. Cuzco, from Melbourne, arrived at Suez yesterday. Her refrigerating machinery is working splendidly, and tho cargo is believed to bo in excellent order. Egyptian Affairs. In the House of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone, in reply to a confirmed a statement which has been, current that it had been suggested by the French Government that a Conference of the European Powers should be held for the settlement of the present Egyptian crisis. The Premier further stated that the Sultan was sending an Imperial Commission to Egypt on board the Turkish ironclads which are about to leave for Alexan* dria. Paris, June 1. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day M. Freycinet disclaimed the report that France was about to institute military action in Egypt, and added that the French Ministry considered that united action on the part of the European Powers was necessary, in order to guarantee a peaceful settlement of the Egyptian difficulty.
