Scholarships. Christchurch, May 11. Thorp; are forty entries for Board of Education Scholarships. . Exhibition Protest. The Westland Commissioners have entered a protest against the action of the Exhibition jurors in refusing to judge the exhibits not included in the catalogue. The Westland Commissioners exhibited a very fine gas retort, made from Brunner fire clay, which, though accidentally omitted from the catalogue, the jurors refuse to report upon. Exhibition Awards. The Judges for the Exhibition musical competitions have awarded the following prizes for performances which took place on Tuesday, May 9, 1882 :—To the Dunedin Motet Society for best choral performance, £25 ; To the Dunedin Motet Society for best unaccompanied part songs, £10; To band, piano, and stringed instruments, under Mr Sorge (Chamber of Music), £lO 10s.
