■ <■ ■ (The following is the continuation of yesterday’s sports.) , Long Jump. F. N. Robinson, 18ft liin.., 1 W. B. Craig, 18ft 3in ... 2 J. Roberts, B. Pigeon, C. T. Newton, and W. Tosswill, also competed. Steeplechase (Ladies’ Cup), about lamiles, A. F. Pigeon ... ...-• 1 H.G-, Smith ... ... 2 1 E.A. Foster ... ..." 3 E. H. Campbell, F. J. LeCren, W. Buchanan, F. N. Robinson, and J. Delamain slso competed. This was a good race. There were eleven gorse jumps, four very stiff rail fences and two water jumps. The race was gone through in capital style by all the oompetitors. Robinson appeared likely to win,but was most unfortunately “staked” at one of the fences, and unable to go through. Pigeon deserved a victory which was won by steady hard work. • • At the conclusion of the steeplechase! contest-the winner, Mr Pigeon, was carried shoulder high into the presence of Mrs Wakefield, who presented him with the trophy, a valuable time-piece,. Mr Ford receiving from the same lady the pair of spurs bestowed on the last competitor within the distance. Cheers were heartily given for Mrs Wakefield; in acknowledgement of the gracefulmanner in which she presented the prizes to the recipients. .Hop, Step, and Jump, W. B. Craig (39ft 10|5n) ... /I F. N. Robinson 2 F.,J. LeCren ... ... ... 3 250 Yards Flat Race. F. N. Robinson... ... ... 1 W. B, Craig .1. ..... 2 H. G. Smith and E. Richardson also ran. This was a thoroughly good race. Time—2B and four-fifth secs.
