[Rkdteb’s Aqenot.j The Marquis of Huntly. Londok, April 17. Further charges against the Marquis of Huntly were heard at the Police Court to-day. The prosecution, however, failed to establish their case, and the charges were consequently dismissed. Mr Parnell. Surprise is expressed that] Mr Parnell who since being liberated on parole has been visiting Paris, has not surrendered to-day as required by the authorities. A report is current in London this evening that he has been shot whilst en route for England, but the news has not been confirmed, and it is generally believed that he is still in Paris. Later. It is now definitely known that the report that an attempt had been made on the life of Mr Parnell, while en route for London, is entirely without foundation. Reliable information is to band to the effect that he is still staying in the neighborhood of Paris. Roderick McLeanA special Commission has been appointed to try tlij case of Roderick McLean, who attempted to shoot the Queen, and who was committed for trial on a charge of high treason by the Windsor Magistrates on March 10. The Commission held its first sitting at Reading to-day. Burial of a Colonial Bishop. The body of the Right Rev. Bishop Barker, of Sydney, who died on the 6th inst., has been buried at Barton, Derbyshire, his birthplace. Post Office Robbery in ParisApril 18. A robbery of postal packages containing valuables and securities estimated to be worth a million francs, was committed last evening from the Central Post-office, Paris. No clue to the perpretrators of the theft has yet been obtained. Chinese ExclusionA new measure, recently introduced in the House of Representatives, proproviding for the total exclusion of the Chinese from the United States for a period of ten years, was finally agreed to by the House last evening. Alabama AwardA Bill has been introduced in the Senate to authorise Government to repay to Great Britain the unexpended balance of the Geneva award in connection with the Alabama claims. Commercial. Consols are unchanged at 101£. New Zealand securictics remain at yesterday’s quotations; Wheat is firm at 55s for Adelaide, ex store, and 63s for New Zealand. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is unchanged at 38s.
Australian tallow is quiet ; best beef, 42s ; best mutton, 455.
