BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The following business was transacted yesterday in addition to that already reported. The Board having considered the Inspector's report on the Temuka school passed the following resolution :—“ That throe months’ notice bo given tu Mr Mclntosh to terminate his engagement us Hoad Master of the Temuka School, and that steps be taken in the usual way to fill the vacancy.” The Secretary was instructed to

enquire into the requirements of the Kerrytown district. Mr Stewart’s motion re engagement of teachers v as carried unanimously.

The motion is as follows—“ That teachers entering the service of the Board be in future required to enter into an engagement for a definite minimum term of twelve months, terminable only at the option of the Board.” A legal difficulty re the Makikihi school site was left to the Chairman to obtain advice and take action.

It was determined to purchase the Seaview master’s house from the Committee out of next year’s building grant ; the boundaries of the South Orari School were extended as asked for; tenders were ordered to be called for repairs at Winchester ; Mr Cowley was granted £3 for extra painting work ; £5 was voted to St. Andrews for fencing ; and it was decided to supply gymnastic apparatus to any Committee desiring same, provided such Committee! will defray half the coat.
