... “The sheep were largely in excess of last year, and jvere of first-rate quality. In merinos it may not be but of place to give the remarks made by, the judges, in , writing, when the l iawards, * were handed in, viz., —‘ The 1 judges in merino sheep desire specially to remark upon a class of strong and exceedingly longwoolled sheep appearing through the whole of the classes, as being in themselves very good, and possessing great merit! : At; the same time they are of such a type as precludes their being judged along with, the, finer woolled merino sheep exhibited. The judges would recommend a special class in future for such sheep.* “In cattle there were less than the previous year hut the quality in all classes was inferior. In ;horses f the draughts were not so numerous as last year, but in point oL quality sustained the reputation that this Show is famous for.

“ In classes “ other. horses,’’-r-they were well represented being .nearly doable ia number, over the previous year. “ Pigs, poultry andj- dogs were als9 well represented and; compared favorably with the last year.; “ Implements-r-There was a large increase in this class over the previous year and competition was keen between the various exhibitors.' ’ ■ , “ Dairy produce wasan improvement on former years and brought forward a number of new exhibitors, and this is a class we should like to see more and more encouraged. “ Agricultural Produce—ln this class there were more exhibits than last year, hut still leaves room for great improve ment, and farmers in the district should interest themselves more in improving their cereals and comparing with their neighbors, to which they should determine never to be second, as the farming community must always hold a first place in the country. “ The balance sheet now laid before you will show the progress made in the amounts received for entries and privi leges of grounds over’ the last year which were, for 1880, £658 4s 9d, and
