The 5 h.p. engine had a cylinder 3£in in diameter, with Bin stroke, and making 170 revolutions per minute. Tho pressure was 180 lbs per inch.

The motion was carried, Crs Hess and Gabites voting against it. Or Ross was strongly of opinion that the Council should entertain no proposals of this kind without consulting their engineer. Cr Gabites thought the price too high.

The Mayor stated that the price for water for motors in Dunedin was 4d per thousand.

Tho Council agreed to reduce tho charge for water supplied to the railway station from Is 6d to Is 3d a thousand gallons-,

The .Works Committee recommended that water should be supplied to horsetroughs erected with the approval of the Council, at a fixed rate per annum ; and that the Council should not incur any expense in regard to public urinals, but should treat liberally with anyone applying for a water supply for this purpose.
