(Per s.s. Rotorua at the Bluff.) London, Jan. 15. Morocco is disquieted. Algeria disturbed, Tunis disorganised, and the wild tribes of Tripoli are in a religious ferment, which has been caused by the predicted advent of a new Mahommedan Messiah next November. The Anti-Jewish riots in Warsaw during the Christmas week are much more,serious than was at first reported. The drunken population wrecked-: 700 houses and 1000 shops belonging to the Jews. They murdered the men, outraged the women, and committed many acts of great barbarity, not sparing even children. The policemen and soldiers fraternised with the rioters, and the military authorities only interfered to check the excess when the greater part of the mischief had been done. Six thousand Jewish families lost everything.
Tt is stated that Chili and Peru as well as England refuse to recognise the supremacy claimed by the United States Government on the American Continent.
The King of Italy, in receiving the Deputies on New Year’s Eve, in referring to the reported design of Prince Bismarck to interfere on behalf of the Vatican; declared that the Italian Government had firmly declared that it would not admit of any discussion on a question affecting any Italian international welfare. Bombay, Jan. 27. Lady Fergusson was attacked with illness on Saturday, and died at 1 o’clock on the following afternoon. It was not antil Wednesday that the Governor arrived at Bombay from Baroda. The funeral of Lady Fergusson took place on the 20th, amidst universal marks of respect. A further shock has been given to the Bombay community by the|death from cholera of Miss Richman, Lady Fergusson’s niece, on the 14lh, two days after the funeral of her aunt. The immediate cause of diseaase in the two ladies has not yet been discovered. Cholera is now increasing in Bombay, and every precaution is being taken to prevent it becoming an epidemic. Two million pilgrims at Allahabad have been summoned by the authorities to disperse owing to an outereak of cholera among them. A severe earthquake was felt on the Jan. 21 along the coast from Calcutta to Cevlon,
