LICENSING COMMITTEES.
For the Christchurch North Licensing districts eight candidates were yesterday nominated, and for the other Christchurch district six. The combined Publicans’ and GoodJJTemplars’ tickets were nominated for each Bench. . Twelve gentlemen were nominated for the Dunedin Central district, in* eluding all those nominated for Dunedin South the previous day. For Linden, a suburban district, only three were nominated. The Governor will therefore have to appoint two. At the nomination of the Licensing Committees for Auckland East, North and South, the Licensed Victuallers and Good Templars each put their men forward, but negotiations were subsequently made to arrange for a common ticket. The publicans and Good Templars of Invercargill will probably agree to the names of five gentlemen to be elected for the four licensing districts comprised in the borough of Invercargill.
