[To the Editor.] Sib,—Your correspondent “ House holder,” writes a letter on the above subject which for disingenousnessis not often, surpassed. “, Householder,'' following the advice of his illustrous countryman “ conceals his qwn actions . as weel’s he can from public inspection,” but in the locality it is well-known how energetically he commenced the canvassing for votes; how earnestly he endeavored to induce his ain minister " to reside just a wee bit in the district to qualify for the said election purposely tooust tne present respected chairman. “Householder’s ’’ clerical friend and neighbor. “ Householder’s ” chagrin at the meeting when be found that “ the best laid schemes o'mice and men gang aft aglee,” is better imagined than described. I was in hopes someone more competent would have replied to such specious Insinuations' -agaiftsti an honourable gentleman.—l am Ac, St Andrews, Feb. 4,1882.
