WELCOMING THE NEW RESIDENT MAGISTRATE.
On the Civil business being taken op at the Court at eleven this morning, Mr White took occasion to address a few words of welcome to the -new Resident Magistrate, Mr J. Beswick, on behalf of the members of the Bar in Timaru, several of whom wore present. He referred to the good feeling which had existed between Mr Beswick’s predecessor and the Bar, and he had no doubt that similar good feeling would exist between His Worship and the Bar.
Mr Beswick thanked the Bar for their kindly reception. He had no doubt their relations would be; of the most agreeable kind. He would look to the Bar for assistance in any difficulties, as he had hitherto done, and had no doubt they would get on well together. He noticed that the Court-room was nearly as bad as the Christchurch one for hearing in. Probably one got used to it in time.
Mr White said they had been using it some years, but had not yet got accuse tomed to it.
