The Waitaki made her usual Friday visit to Timarn to-day, bringing a good load of general merchandise. .]• The Beautiful Star is expected to-morrow from Dunedin, to fetch a load of wool for transhipment. Mr A. White’s barque Ganymede, being re-fitted in Port Chalmers, is expected to be ready for sea again next week. The;barque Elizabeth Graham, 500 tons, from London, arrived off Oamaru on Wednesday. Her inward cargo is for that port j she will come to Timaru to load. : The inquiry into the cause of the loss of the City of Cashmere has. been adjourned by Mr Beswick, 8.M., until to-morrow morning, owing to the pressure of other business, at 10 a.m. The wreck, together with the ship’s stores, spars, sails, anchors, rigging, &c,, will be submitted to public suction by Mr M. Jonas, oh Monday next at half-past three, on the beach where the vessel lies.
The barque East Lothian drifted ashore at Kaipara on Tuesday and lost her rudder by bumping. She was towed off, however, by the pilot’s steam launch.
